STYLING FOR MR IDEAL NIGERIA 2014

The Mr Ideal Nigeria Pageant has come and go but the reflection of styles at the show was awesome. I was contacted to style some of the models, got there before time, sat down for awhile and later on went into the showroom to take a look at the dresses and they wear nice enough to go on the runway. the materials, fitting, colors were on point and the models great bodies.

 HOW TO PULL OFF DENIM ON DENIM AS A GUY

Where to start;

Black Spray On jeans and a blue denim jacket is a good place to start when experimenting with double denim. The change in colour from top to bottom means you’ll get a subtle double denim look that most people won’t even realise. Matched with a plain white tee and you’ll pull off the east London hipster. Pop your collar and add a toothpick and bam – you are Gosling in Drive!

Topman has a great collection of new patterned printed denim jackets available instore and online – our new snake print denim jacket is a great way to update the classic. Another good double denim look for this season is to go for acid wash jeans as fashion is currently taking cues from the late 80s and early 90s. Blue acid wash jeans and blue denim jackets matched together make for a really fresh double denim look. Or, if you’re feeling a bit adventurous you can match the acid wash jeans with an acid wash jacket so you wear the same kind of colour palatte head to toe.

What to avoid

If you wear a light coloured jeans with a shirt just a shade darker you risk going wrong with your look. Stay away from mid blues for your double denim, it’s a bit too late 90s/early 00s - remember this from Britney and Justin? Yeah… you definitely want to stay clear from that! Wearing a mid blue jacket and lighter jeans will just make you look a bit wishy washy.

STYLE TIP: The trick is either channel the same colour or go for a contrast between different hues – like all the bold fashion looks it’s best to either go the whole hog or don’t do it all.

How to add dip dye denim to the look

Dip dye denim is a look for the younger fashion minded out there – think early twenties hipster types. Laura gives it a big thumbs up to this look, saying it’s a really cool look for this summer. If you’re going to give it a go, she advises not to wear similar coloured jeans with dip dye, or you could risk looking a bit like a rocket lolly. Go for simple black jeans if you want to wear dip dye and don’t wear a denim jacket over it – triple denim is just a bit too much right now!

Is the look here to stay?

These looks just cover the basics, but once you get confident rocking double denim then you can start adding in ripped denim shorts or denim shirts to mix it up. Expect to see double denim in a big way this season and hopefully our tips will help you wear it well!

They are dresses women love to flaunt there curves. We have seen a lot of celebrities rocking the body-con like Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, and lots of other celebrities. And right now we can say Body-cons are curvy girls Best friend

HOW TO WEAR BODY-CON DRESSES

When wearing body-con think about how Kim kardashian wears her body-con with nice prints, texture, padded shoulder to give a sexy shape, details round the waist line and this is best for hourglass shapes. And you wear them according to the type of event, that is wear the length comes in.

Texture: If you are a first time Body-con wearer you opt for plain black and some nice metallic or sequins Black heels and if you feel comfortable. This will help you decide if you like body-con trend.

Length does matter: Body-con comes in different shapes and length, below the knee, short and long, Kim has rocked different types to different events, when wearing it think about the event you are going before wearing it and short body-cons are meant to turn heads in clubs.

And for those with no curves like Beyonce and Kim you can add spanx and sheer tight to get a better fitting when wearing body-cons, besides a lot of our celebrities do wear spanx, and don’t forget to carry yourself with great confidence and class.
